Tip – checking cards

In leagues that require the referee to check players against a card or pass in addition to the roster, it can often be advantageous to read the player’s numbers and have each player say his or her name. That saves the referee from mispronouncing difficult names (and possibly offending the player). It also allows the referee an extra measure of security in case an illegal player is attempting to use the pass of another player.
